You’ll often see multiple meds for high blood pressure on a patient’s home med list...to help patients reach their BP goals.

Taking 2 or more BP meds...separately or as a combo pill...can lower blood pressure more than increasing the dose of one drug alone.

For example, patients may get a combination of an ACE inhibitor (lisinopril, etc) or an ARB (losartan, etc)...calcium channel blocker (amlodipine, etc)...or thiazide (chlorthalidone, etc). These meds are first-line options to lower BP and reduce cardiovascular risk.
